At COP28, the UAE Alliance for Climate Action launched Road2.0, a commercial transport decarbonization initiative that aims to increase the uptake of commercial zero emission vehicles (ZEVs) in the UAE, accelerating the transition to green transport alternatives through early and tangible actions from organizations across the UAE ecosystem.
The initiative currently focuses on electric vehicles (EVs) for commercial road transport as the technology is mature, EV emission reduction potential has high impact, it’s becoming cost competitive and it’s operationally viable.
In Road2.0’s first year of operation, Road2.0 signatories put 90 Commercial EVs on UAE roads. To achieve scale and real change, UACA is calling on any organization committed to commercial transport decarbonization to get in touch and support the movement.
Implement EV pilot projects and update procurement guidelines to facilitate the adoption of electric vehicles.
Achieve a 30% decarbonization of your organization’s UAE's road transport fleet, excluding heavy-duty vehicles – meaning 30% of the fleet is made up of Zero Emission Vehicles.
Achieve 100% decarbonization of your organization’s UAE's road transport fleet – meaning 100% of the fleet is made up of Zero Emission Vehicles.
