UACA Road2.0 Signatories Pilot Commercial EVs in UAE and Publish First Evidence-Based Transition Report

Road2.0, the action-first initiative powered by the UAE Alliance for Climate Action (UACA), launched its Year One Report: Accelerating Commercial EV Uptake in the UAE. The report presents the UAE’s first evidence-based assessment of commercial electric vehicle (EV) feasibility, highlighting barriers as well as practical enablers to scale decarbonization. Findings are grounded in real-world pilots across multiple vehicle types – from vans and heavy-duty trucks to sedans and two-wheelers for last-mile delivery.

UAE Alliance for Climate Action (UACA) convenes Third Advisory Committee Meeting to Advance Net Zero Momentum

UAE’s flagship non-state actor programme led by Emirates Nature-WWF, UACA, convened senior leaders for a high-level meeting chaired by H.E. Razan Al Mubarak, President of the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) and Managing Director of the Mohamed bin Zayed Species Conservation Fund (MBZ Fund). The Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure (MoEI) joined the UACA Advisory Committee, reflecting its continued support for the Road2.0 initiative to scale up adoption of commercial EVs in the UA The Advisory Committee reviewed progress and aligned on 2025 initiatives, including the next phase of Road2.0 to accelerate transformation of the domestic EV ecosystem.

UAE Alliance for Climate Action's Road2.0 Launches EV Demand Declaration

On October 22nd, the UAE Alliance for Climate Action's Road2.0 Signatories officially launched the EV Demand Declaration, during a joint workshop between the Ministry of Energy & Infrastructure and UACA. Corporate signatories declare intent to deploy 20,000 Zero Emission Vehicles (ZEVs) in commercial fleets by 2040 and call for collaboration across the domestic EV ecosystem in the short term. The Declaration has been endorsed by the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure (MOEI) and Ministry of Climate Change and Environment (MOCCAE). By the end of 2024, Road2.0 signatories will have put up to 90 Commercial ZEVs on UAE roads, with the intention to scale to at least 6,000 ZEVs by 2030, potentially saving over 100,000 tons of CO2e from fuel emissions.

Emirates Nature-WWF Launches the UAE Alliance for Climate Action

On November 24th the Emirates Nature-WWF has officially launched a local alliance, named the UAE Alliance for Climate Action (UACA), during COP27 in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt, during the climate negotiations of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). The alliance has been created for non-state actors to increase the momentum of net-zero targets in line with science and the Paris Agreement, a worldwide treaty that calls for countries to take concerted climate action to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, limiting warming to 1.5 degrees Celsius.

UAE Alliance for Climate Action: Launch at COP27

On November 15th the WWF Pavilion will transform to host the Alliances for Climate Action (ACA) to demonstrate the power of bottom-up approaches to decarbonization and climate action. We are pleased to be hosting the launch of the newest alliance joining the network of national alliances: the UAE Alliance for Climate Action (UACA). Emirates Nature in association with WWF (Emirates Nature-WWF) is proud to host and officially launch the UAE Alliance for Climate Action (UACA). UACA officially joins nine global alliances dedicated to driving ambitious climate action, increasing support for addressing the climate crisis, and engaging national governments.
